Northstars outshine Knights at home
KNIGHTS 3 - NORTHSTARS 6
The Canberra Knights racked up more than an hour of penalties en route to a 6-3 home defeat to the Newcastle North Stars.
17 July 2010
Despite conceding the opening goal to Brian Bales less than 45 seconds in, the Knights took control of the game through goals by Peter Taylor and Matti Luoma.
With the Knights shorthanded on a botched line change, Vadim Virjassov then doubled the lead when he intercepted a pass at his blue line and skated all the way to goal.
But Newcastle slowly chipped away at Canberra's lead before Bales split the Canberra defence with a pass that was tapped in by Peter Cartwright with 4:13 to go.
The frustration finally boiled over for the Knights as they picked up three more penalties while Newcastle picked up two more power play goals. -

Knights get shut out by Adrenaline
KNIGHTS 5 - ADRENALINE 6 (SO)
3 July 2010A natural hat trick by Sean Scarbrough was unable to get the Canberra Knights past the Adelaide Adrenaline as they fell 6-5 in a shootout at Phillip.
Canberra surrendered two early first period goals before conceding a third on the power play at the start of the second as Adelaide built a healthy lead.
But Scarbrough forced a close-ranged shot with the teams at four skaters each, and five-holed the Adelaide goaltender for his second before squaring the game with a slapper from the slot.
The Knights' Matti Luoma then swept the puck under the Adelaide goalie after a scramble at the crease as Canberra turned a 1-3 deficit into a 4-3 lead in 1:30 of play.
The Adrenalin's Dale Hall capitalized on a hasty clearance to score the only goal of the third period as Canberra went to a shoot out at home for the first time this year.
Ryan Lowe stopped Adelaide's first two penalty shots to put Canberra in a good position. But with Scarbrough the only Knight on target, the Adrenaline eventually ran out winners.

24 July 2010The Canberra Knights shot away to no avail as they were beaten 3-2 by the visiting Gold Coast Blue Tongues in the first of back-to-back games at Phillip this weekend.

Mike McCrae got the Gold Coast level on the counter attack five minutes later, which is how the teams stayed until the end when Dallas Costanzo wrapped around the game winner on the power play.
Canberra skated the last 1:45 with an empty net but could not solve a brilliant Kalleitner.
The teams will meet again tomorrow evening.
